X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Although I'm not a huge fan of prequels, I actually liked this movie. The plot was interesting, although it still left some questions unanswered, which is fitting for an X-Men movie. The special effects were great, and the acting was alright. Some scenes were over dramatic and unconvincing, but for the most part the film was good. It certainly doesn't compare with The Dark Night blockbuster, but I do think its worth seeing if you are a fan of X-Men who is willing to except some character design changes.

I went into this movie with very low expectations, I prefer action flicks, but I left the theater surprisingly impressed. The movie's plot was a bit cliche and predictable, but the humor was top knotch. Of course, I'm a nerd myself so i thoroughly enjoyed Thomas Lennon's part in the film as the nerdy billionaire. But, back to the plot; the main character's transition from a wash-up middle aged man to seventeen year old Zac Efron was abrupt and cheesy, but this movie is filled to the brim with abrupt cheesyness, and it is welcomed. The movie is meant to come across lightly yet convey an underlying message of life's changing priorities, which it did suitably. Zac Efron's acting helped to really make the film, as it was so different from his usual role but executed flawlessly.
